The SKALA team recently conducted a comprehensive monitoring activity to support the integration of Gender Mainstreaming (PUG) strategies in fund transfers to Maluku Province and Ambon City. These fund transfers are part of the framework of Financial Relations between Indonesia’s Central Government and Regional Governments (HKPD).

The 19th Indonesia Regional Science Association (IRSA) International Conference welcomed academics, researchers, policymakers, development partners and civil society representatives to Ambon on 15-16 July 2024. Co-hosted by IRSA and Pattimura University’s (UnPatti) Faculty of Agriculture (FAPERTA) and Magister Agribusiness Postgraduate Program, the conference focused on “Gender Inequality and Climate Change Impacts in Archipelagic Regions.”

This event builds on the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s (DFAT) prior investments through the Knowledge Sector Initiative on establishing competency standards for policy analysts in Indonesia. These investments have resulted in over 9,555 policy analysts across Indonesia (see figure 1). To support Government of Indonesia Policy Analysts advocate for more inclusive policy making, SKALA’s Policy Advocacy team organized a workshop in Aceh Province on "Using Data for Inclusive Basic Services."

SKALA proudly supported the launch of the 2022-2041 Master Plan for Accelerating Papuan Development (RIPPP) and the Information System for Accelerating Papuan Development (SIPPP) in Sorong, Southwest Papua. The launch was organized jointly by the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, the Secretariat of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Ministry of Finance.

Suharso Monoarfa, the Minister of National Development Planning/Bappenas, hosted the "Regsosek: Collaborating towards One Data for a Golden Indonesia" event on June 20, 2024. Regsosek, a national socioeconomic registry, supports Indonesia’s One Data initiative by presenting comprehensive microdata on 78 million Indonesian families which can be used for a multitude of purposes in combination with other datasets.

Ms. Pipit Ratna Fitriani , SKALA’s GEDSI Lead and winner of DT Global’s Woman of the Year Award reflects on development and Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion in Indonesia.

In a competitive job market, gaining practical experience while studying can make a world of a difference for young professionals. The SKALA Internship Program does exactly this. The Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas) recently held a highly successful Narrative Writing Training in collaboration with the Australia-Indonesia Partnership SKALA Program.

The Synergy and Collaboration for the Acceleration of Basic Services (SKALA) has been honoured with a special award from The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) for its outstanding contribution to strengthening policies and implementing Minimum Service Standards (SPM) at the regional level. The award was presented at the 2024 SPM Awards ceremony held in Jakarta.
