Aceh’s One Data: Paving the Way Towards Evidence-Based Governance

The Government of Aceh has taken an important step to strengthen data-driven development through the launch of the One Data Aceh initiative. With over 10,000 datasets now accessible via the One Data Aceh Portal, the province has become a national frontrunner in building transparent, inclusive, and accountable data governance. The portal brings together dashboards, spatial maps, infographics, and open datasets that can be used by government agencies, academics, journalists, the private sector, and local communities. By making data open and accessible, Aceh ensures that planning and budgeting are based on evidence, not assumptions. Supported by strong political commitment, solid institutional arrangements, and collaboration with national agencies, universities, and the SKALA Program, One Data Aceh is helping shape policies that better respond to the needs of communities, especially the most vulnerable. This achievement not only strengthens basic services in education, health, and village development, but also sets an example for other regions in Indonesia striving towards more inclusive and data-driven governance.
