Inclusive Nusa Tenggara Barat: From The Driver’s Seat
The West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB) has taken a bold step by exempting people with disabilities who use modified vehicles from motor vehicle tax (PKB), as stipulated in NTB Governor’s Regulation No. 23 of 2024. This story booklet features the real-life stories of Airul and Bang Ipi—two people with physical disabilities who are now able to run their own businesses and move about freely without fear of roadside checks. Through collaboration between the NTB Provincial Government, the Ministry of Finance and the SKALA Program, this policy marks a paradigm shift from a revenue-centric to an empowerment-centric approach: treating local government revenue as a social investment and positioning the state as a facilitator of independence for the most vulnerable members of society.
