In the last decade, the government of Indonesia has enacted Law No. 8/2016 on People with Disabilities and government regulation No. 70/2019 on the Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation of the Respect, Protection, and Fulfilment of the Rights of People with Disabilities. To operationalize these, the central government established the National Action Plan on People with Disabilities (RAN PD) while local governments were asked to formulate regional action plans (RAD PD).

The Australia-Indonesia Partnership program SKALA, in collaboration with the Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) provincial government, hosted a dynamic two-day workshop to enhance the policy advocacy skills of officials from government, universities, as well as non-governmental organizations. Empowering Policy Analysts in Aceh: A Workshop on Using Data for Inclusive Basic Services and Effective Policy Advocacy

This event builds on the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s (DFAT) prior investments through the Knowledge Sector Initiative on establishing competency standards for policy analysts in Indonesia. These investments have resulted in over 9,555 policy analysts across Indonesia (see figure 1). To support Government of Indonesia Policy Analysts advocate for more inclusive policy making, SKALA’s Policy Advocacy team organized a workshop in Aceh Province on “Using Data for Inclusive Basic Services.”

Accelerating Development in Papua

SKALA proudly supported the launch of the 2022-2041 Master Plan for Accelerating Papuan Development (RIPPP) and the Information System for Accelerating Papuan Development (SIPPP) in Sorong, Southwest Papua. Regsosek: One Data for a Golden Indonesia 2045

Suharso Monoarfa, the Minister of National Development Planning/Bappenas, hosted the “Regsosek: Collaborating towards One Data for a Golden Indonesia” event on June 20, 2024. Regsosek, a national socioeconomic registry, supports Indonesia’s One Data initiative by presenting comprehensive microdata on 78 million Indonesian families which can be used for a multitude of purposes in combination with other datasets.
