A Significant Step Towards Inclusive Basic Services in Gorontalo
On Tuesday, January 30, 2024, the Provincial Program Committee (PPC) convened in Gorontalo, bringing together key stakeholders to evaluate ongoing SKALA initiatives.
Sofian Ibrahim, the Regional Secretary of Gorontalo, expressed his enthusiasm about the PPC meeting, recognizing it as a crucial platform towards a stronger synergy and collaboration. He emphasised the importance of leveraging SKALA’s presence to accelerate innovative programs aimed at improving the quality of basic services.
Rini Silalahi, representing the Australian Embassy/DFAT, underscored that the evaluation is focused on reviewing SKALA implemented programs and outlining the work plan extending until June 2024. Furthermore, she highlighted the necessity for collaboration to expedite basic services in line with the SKALA program.
Launched in Gorontalo in October 2023, the SKALA program is a collaborative effort between the Indonesian and Australian governments, with the aim of reducing poverty and inequality by enhancing the availability of basic services. Despite initial implementation challenges, significant progress has been made.
The PPC meeting, held for the second time, provided an opportunity to showcase achievements, key issues, and discuss the roadmap for the coming months. Collaborative efforts are expected to lead to substantial progress in Gorontalo over the next three months.
The evaluation phase emphasises SKALA’s commitment to adapting to local dynamics and continuing to collaborate with stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes. SKALA is confident that with the support of all parties, the program will be able to ignite positive impacts on the people of Gorontalo, especially the poor and the vulnerable.
