Updating Data to Increase the Welfare of Villagers

18/07/2023

Tapping into local government system of the Papua Information System (SIO Papua) to update Regsosek’s micro data.

The Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas together with Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) have completed the socio-economic registration data collection at the end of 2022. This then followed with a series of Public Consultation Forum (FKP) held in every village and ward in Papua, including Jayapura District. The purpose of FKP is to discuss and determine the level of welfare of the population, namely the extremely poor, poor, vulnerably poor, and not poor. The implementation of FKP will help to determine the level of welfare of the population and will be held periodically to update the Regsosek data. During the FKP, BPS facilitators and village officials matched the data from Regsosek with the data from SIO Papua data.

The Papua Information System (SIO Papua) is a disaggregated family-based population socio-economic data collection system for Indigenous Papuans (OAP) and Non-Indigenous Papuans (Non-OAP). The SIO Papua data collection is carried out by village cadres and verified by the village head, including in updating the Regsosek data.

“We are ready to support updating the Regsosek data by combining with village data collection using SIO Papua, due to similarity in most of the data variables,” said Marwan Hasyim, Head of Sabron Sari Village, Jayapura District.
