Program Background

The SKALA Program is a significant Australian investment designed to help Indonesia address regional disparities in development. SKALA will contribute to this objective by strengthening selected elements of Indonesia’s large and complex decentralised government system responsible for the delivery of basic services (Layanan Dasar). The SKALA Program’s core approach is to facilitate better collaboration (Kolaborasi) between Indonesian government stakeholders, at national and subnational levels, to help realise synergies (Sinergi) that will trigger improved service delivery. Moreover, SKALA will build on, and take to scale, the successes and learning from Australia’s previous 19 years of support to Indonesia’s decentralised government system. The SKALA Program is to be implemented through the following three pillars:

  • Pillar 1: Stronger national level enabling environment for sub-national service delivery
  • Pillar 2: Better sub-national governance for service delivery
  • Pillar 3: Greater participation, representation and influence for women, people with disabilities and vulnerable groups

SKALA is implemented at the national level with an office in Jakarta and at the subnational level with offices in Aceh, Nusa Tenggara Barat, Nusa Tenggara Timur, Maluku, Gorontalo, Kalimantan Utara, Tanagh Papua. In addition to the 3 pillars, SKALA works across 4 general themes of Public Financial Management, Minimum Service Standards, Data and Analysis and GEDSI.

The Role

In order to enable the SKALA team to access all necessary management information on a single platform the MERL & Performance Team are developing a Management Information System (MIS). The SKALA MIS combines various data from across the SKALA Team, including planning data, budget forecast data, finance expenditure data, and data from activity monitoring instruments developed by Implementation team. To ensure MIS data and information is updated regularly and reliable, the Data Information Systems Intern will support the MIS Specialist/Manager to manage raw MIS data. This will involve cleansing and validating data. To provide an information on utilize MIS data, the internship also will prepare some material (such as screen shot and short video for user guidance. The Internship also will have ability to do exporting MIS data from the MIS platform to other format, to use by other team for reporting process.

About You

Specific Responsibilities 

  1. Prepare, cleanse and validate MIS raw data (excel based document) from various reports and worksheets.
  2. Assist SKALA team in MIS data utilization through generating reporting information, etc.
  3. Assist on application function testing for MIS Module.
  4. Other technical tasks as requested by SKALA MIS Specialist/Manager.

Deliverables

  1. SKALA MIS update data process can be faster and more reliable.
  2. MIS data can be easier to utilized for support reporting process.
  3. Prepare some raw material (such as video, screenshot) for user guidance to help team understand on how to utilize the MIS.
  4. Monthly report outlining key activities and progress of work.

Relationship Management

This role will advise and directly report to the SKALA MIS Specialist/Manager.

Selection Criteria

Essential

  1. A recent graduate or final-year student of computer science, informatic engineering, or related field.
  2. Be engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the internship assignments announced by SKALA.
  3. Familiar using Microsoft Office application, especially in spreadsheet/Excel based. Excel look up, query pivoting and visualize data will be an advantage.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills in Bahasa and English.
  5. Ability to participate part-time as indicated during the internship for 12 consecutive weeks.

 
Remuneration
Successful Indonesian nationals will be engaged under a national contract in IDR and will be subject to Indonesian employment regulations and tax obligations.
